Actress Shriya Saran is understandably upset after learning that someone has been posing as her and reaching out to individuals under false pretenses. She took to her social media to demand the impersonator cease their actions: “Please stop messaging people and wasting their time.”
On Wednesday, she shared a screenshot revealing the fake phone number being used alongside her image. She expressed her frustration, saying, “Whoever this idiot is, please stop writing to people and wasting time! This is unfortunate, and I regret that others' time is being wasted due to this.”
The Drishyam 2 star cautioned her followers, noting that even people she holds in high regard have been targeted by this impersonator. “This isn’t me! This is not my number! On a lighter note, it’s amusing that this person is contacting those I admire and wish to collaborate with! It’s odd—why waste time on this? Find your own identity instead of impersonating someone else,” she added.
Shriya also posted a warning on Instagram Stories: “Scam alert… Fake. I’ve received calls from friends about someone pretending to be me. Please avoid this fraudulent number for any communication or job requests. Do not make any payments.”
Fans reacted with sympathy, advising her to report the incident to online fraud authorities. One supporter commented, “It must be incredibly frustrating to see your name misused in this way. You’ve managed it with such poise—no impersonator can match your grace and dignity.” Several others encouraged her to file a formal complaint to put an end to the deception.
This year, Shriya appeared in a notable role in the Tamil romantic action thriller Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, alongside stars Suriya and Pooja Hegde. She also featured in the Telugu fantasy action movie Mirai, directed by Karthik Gattamneni, alongside Teja Sajja, Manchu Manoj, Jagapathi Babu, Ritika Nayak, and Jayaram.
