Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was present at the 17th EmiratesSkills National Competition taking place at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi. The event is scheduled to run until May 20, 2026, and is organized by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET).
During the tour, Sheikh Khaled explored various exhibition pavilions and observed an array of projects, technical crafts, and creative ideas from participants throughout the UAE. He received updates on significant initiatives and training programs aimed at enhancing national skills and equipping young Emiratis for future employment opportunities in crucial economic sectors.
Sheikh Khaled expressed admiration for the ingenuity and quality of the showcased projects, noting that the impressive performance of the students underscores the evolving capabilities of UAE youth, bolstering a culture of excellence, innovation, and global competitiveness in vocational education.
He reiterated that investing in youth skills development continues to be a principal focus in the UAE’s strategic outlook. This investment is centered around preparing young individuals with sophisticated knowledge and practical abilities that align with advancements in innovation, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
The competition also saw the attendance of high-profile officials, including Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, and other key figures from various government departments.
Since its inception in 2006, EmiratesSkills has emerged as a premier national platform dedicated to fostering young talent in technical and vocational disciplines. This year marks its 20th anniversary, highlighting two decades of substantial contribution to skills advancement within the UAE.
The 2026 edition of the competition includes 37 different technical and vocational skills, with over 150 professionals and specialists tasked with evaluating the events. A total of 502 male and female students from across the UAE are participating, representing the upcoming wave of skilled national talent.
