Sheikh Hazza Evaluates Key Transport Developments in Al Ain

Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan evaluated essential infrastructure, transportation, and logistics projects in recent meetings with various delegations, including those from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail within the Al Ain Region.

During discussions with the Abu Dhabi Airports team, led by CEO Ahmed Juma Al Shamisi, Sheikh Hazza examined ongoing development projects and activation strategies for the free zone at Al Ain International Airport. The talks centered on bolstering logistics solutions and enhancing air-rail transport integration to fortify the airport's position as a logistics and transit hub.

These sessions also addressed strategic expansions aimed at facilitating passenger flow and upgrading the airport's facilities to align with the rising economic and tourism activities in the Al Ain Region.

The Sheikh also interacted with a delegation from AD Ports Group, headed by Managing Director and Group CEO Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, who shared updates on the initiatives undertaken by AD Ports Group and Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi within Al Ain.

The projects aim to position Al Ain as a dynamic industrial and economic center. Discussions included prospective developments to boost the food, agritech, packaging, and logistics sectors, ultimately enhancing the region’s investment appeal and competitiveness.

In another meeting, Sheikh Hazza welcomed a delegation from Etihad Rail led by CEO Shadi Malak, who provided insights into the advancement of the UAE-Oman railway connection, which emphasizes Al Ain as a critical segment of the railway route.

Officials reported that the railway initiative, spearheaded by Hafeet Rail—a partnership among Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company—is now 40 percent completed.

The update also spotlighted upcoming plans for both passenger and freight rail services in Al Ain, highlighting their significance in stimulating economic growth and enhancing the UAE's transport and logistics framework.

Sheikh Hazza underscored the necessity of advancing infrastructure and transport initiatives through a forward-looking strategy that boosts Al Ain's competitiveness and fosters sustainable economic progress. He emphasized that these endeavors would further establish the UAE as a global hub for trade, logistics, and advanced transportation solutions.

He commended the work of national teams and officials committed to strategic initiatives aimed at achieving development objectives and elevating the quality of life in the Al Ain Region.

The meetings were also attended by Mohammed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan along with several officials from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail.
