Actor and singer Shehnaaz Gill, known for her breakthrough role in Bigg Boss 13, recently discussed the profound changes in her life following the heartbreaking death of her close friend and co-contestant, Sidharth Shukla. During an engaging podcast session, she opened up about her emotional evolution and the lasting memories of the late actor.
At just 40, Sidharth Shukla's unexpected demise in 2021 from a cardiac arrest left a significant void in the lives of his fans and those who knew him well, notably Shehnaaz, who had developed a unique bond with him during their time on Bigg Boss 13.
Shehnaaz expressed that Sidharth’s passing instigated a remarkable transformation in her character and her perspective on life. She remarked, “Sidharth has imparted a great deal of maturity in me. After everything that happened, I’ve matured. Otherwise, I would still be the same carefree person from Bigg Boss—totally unconcerned about the world.”
Reflecting on her past, she noted, “Sometimes I watch my old clips from Bigg Boss and think, ‘Was I really like that? That girl was so carefree and joyful. Life has changed so much, and my brother also changed me.”
Her admissions resonated with a blend of loss and gratitude for the invaluable life lessons left by Sidharth.
She also recounted a significant moment when Sidharth influenced her career path, reminding her to stay in Mumbai instead of returning to Chandigarh after Bigg Boss 13. “I was planning to return to Chandigarh, but he insisted, ‘You shouldn’t go.’ He supported me through it all. I was new here and focused on my growth, refining myself and building a career from scratch.”
This pivotal decision, as Shehnaaz elaborated, marked a turning point in both her personal and professional journey. Since then, she has dedicated herself to establishing her identity in the entertainment field, appearing in music videos, films, and making her mark in Punjabi cinema with Ikk Kudi.
The connection between Shehnaaz and Sidharth during Bigg Boss 13 remains one of the most talked-about narratives in reality TV. Though they never officially labeled their relationship, the undeniable chemistry between them captivated fans.
In earlier discussions, Shehnaaz admitted to her possessiveness about Sidharth, stating, “I don’t focus on looks; however, I felt possessive due to his charm. It’s natural to feel that way when someone is so appealing.”
She described Sidharth as a pillar of support, whose comforting presence gave her stability amidst the chaotic landscape of fame.
Although three years have gone by since Sidharth’s death, Shehnaaz still carries his influence, learning to convert her sorrow into strength.
From her tribute music video, Tu Yaheen Hai, dedicated to him, to her Bollywood debut in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Shehnaaz has traversed a significant journey, seamlessly balancing her healing with professional advancements.
Expressing her current outlook, Shehnaaz noted that her focus has sharpened, making her more grounded and appreciative of life. “I’ve come to value my health, cherish relationships, and enjoy the moment. Sidharth taught me that true growth originates from within.”
Shehnaaz Gill’s recent reflections underscore the deep-seated impact Sidharth Shukla had on her life, both personally and professionally. While his untimely departure took a cherished friend from her, his guiding presence remains strong in her journey. As she promotes her new Punjabi film Ikk Kudi, Shehnaaz embodies resilience and transformation, a living tribute to the lessons left by Sidharth.
