On Thursday, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, officially kicked off the Abu Al Kizan Marine Village project in Khorfakkan.

This ambitious endeavor aligns with Sharjah’s commitment to promote tourism, urban advancements, and enhance living standards throughout the emirate. Spanning 7 million square feet, the initiative is poised to become a key attraction for tourism and investment in Khorfakkan.

Inspired by the picturesque coastal villages of Italy, the Abu Al Kizan Marine Village features architecture that marries the classic Ligurian style with Islamic design influences, crafting a distinctive waterfront locale. The development boasts vibrant terraced buildings set around a natural harbor formed by the rocks, providing breathtaking sea views amid a stunning natural backdrop.

During the cornerstone ceremony, the Ruler of Sharjah explored the project’s master plan and amenities, which will encompass green areas, a beach, a prominent promenade, roadways, pedestrian paths, and integrated public services designed to enhance the experience for both residents and visitors.

The title “Abu Al Kizan” symbolizes the area's maritime heritage, with “Kizan” being the plural of “Koz,” a large mollusk shellfish, signifying the project's deep-rooted connection to coastal life.

Strategically situated in Khorfakkan, the project is easily accessible to significant locations such as Khorfakkan Corniche, the Old Souq, Khorfakkan Port, and Al Suhub Rest Area, enhancing its potential as a tourism and investment hub.

Officials report that the development will comprise 201 land plots for constructing 285 structures, including multi-story residential units, villas, mixed-use spaces, offices, a hotel, and a mosque, aimed at establishing a vibrant urban community catering to various residential and commercial requirements.

The architectural design is tailored to respect the natural landscape, distributing building heights thoughtfully across the site. Environmental sustainability standards will be implemented to safeguard marine habitats and foster biodiversity in the area.

The Abu Al Kizan Marine Village exemplifies Sharjah’s forward-thinking vision for cultivating sustainable tourism and urban settings that harmonize environmental conservation with modern amenities.

The foundation stone ceremony was attended by senior officials, including Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Chairman of Sharjah Islamic Bank; Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority; and Dr Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi, Chairman of Mubadara.
