Senegal's Football Federation Voices Concerns About AFCON Final Arrangements

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has raised significant concerns regarding the conditions faced by its national team in Morocco ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday against the host nation.

In a statement released early Saturday, the FSF criticized the lack of adequate security upon the team's arrival in Rabat, unsatisfactory accommodation, issues with training facilities, and limited tickets available for their supporters.

The federation has urged the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and local organizers to swiftly address these concerns to ensure fairness, proper treatment, and safety for this pivotal continental event.

After traveling by train from Tangier to Rabat on Friday, Senegal's players experienced what the federation deemed a "clear absence of adequate security," resulting in overcrowding and heightened risks.

The FSF mentioned that it had to file a formal complaint to secure appropriate hotel accommodations, yet specifics about the initial lodging offered were not disclosed.

Furthermore, the federation dismissed the use of the Mohammed VI Complex for training, where Morocco's squad has been based, questioning the fairness of this arrangement. The training location for Senegal remains undecided.

Concerns also arose regarding ticket sales, with Senegal only able to purchase 2,850 tickets, which the federation labeled as "insufficient" given the high demand and restrictions that impact their supporters.

The final is set to occur at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, boasting a capacity of 69,500 fans. Morocco is eager to end a 50-year title drought, while Senegal, the 2021 champions, aims for their second Africa Cup title.

By making its grievances public, the FSF seeks to foster transparency and protect the interests of its national team in the lead-up to this significant football event.
