Scarlett Johansson has once again defended her continued support for director Woody Allen, who has faced allegations of sexually abusing his step-daughter, Dylan Farrow. Allen, now 90, has consistently denied the claims, yet public scrutiny and criticism over the accusations have persisted for decades.

In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Johansson reflected on the personal and professional consequences of defending Allen. She admitted that it’s “hard to know” whether she has lost friends over her stance, but emphasized the importance of staying true to her beliefs. “My mom always encouraged me to be myself, [to see] that it’s important to have integrity, and stand up for what you believe in,” Johansson said.

The Black Widow star also spoke about timing and self-awareness, stating, “I think it’s also important to know when it’s not your turn. I don’t mean that you should silence yourself. I mean sometimes it’s just not your time. That’s something I’ve understood more as I’ve matured.”

Johansson has a long history of collaboration with Allen, having appeared in three of his films: Match Point (2005), Scoop (2006), and Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008). In a 2019 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she expressed her admiration and trust in the director, saying she “would work with him anytime.” She added that she meets Allen whenever possible, maintains open conversations with him, and believes in his innocence.

The actress’ defense of Allen has sparked repeated public debate, with critics questioning the decision to support a director accused of sexual misconduct. Johansson, however, has remained steadfast, framing her stance as a matter of personal integrity and judgment, while acknowledging the complexity of public perception.
