On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Saskatoon will host a big Canada Day celebration downtown. This year’s theme is “Respect and Honour”, reminding everyone about our past and the kind future we want to build .
Here’s what to look forward to:
1. Shuttle & Parking:
Free holiday parking and special shuttle buses will help families get to the celebrations .
2. Cultural Performances (noon–evening):
River Landing Amphitheatre: Shows will include Chinese dancers, Afghan women’s choir, Indigenous drum and dance, Scottish country dancers, Brazilian dance, magicians, and more .
Community tent at Nasser Plaza offers bannock tasting, face painting, balloons, all enjoyed in a friendly space .
3. Indigenous Acknowledgement:
A sharing of knowledge includes a smudge ceremony, blessings, and storytelling to honour Indigenous traditions .
4. Food & Activities:
Enjoy food trucks, arts & crafts, games, jumpy toys, and face painting
5. Free Transit & Bike Valet:
The city encourages walking, cycling (with valet parking), or taking free transit—making travel easy and safe .
6. Fireworks Finale at 10:30 p.m.:
The event finishes with a bright fireworks show that lights up the sky over the river .
