Post by : Sean Carter

As Bollywood icon Salman Khan marks his 60th birthday, touching stories of his compassion and relentless support for cancer patients emerge. Activist and cancer care advocate Viji Venkatesh shared her experiences, shining a light on Salman’s kindness beyond his film career.

In a heartfelt Instagram tribute, Venkatesh reminisced about their first encounter at Tata Memorial Hospital on November 17, 2010. During that meeting, Salman selflessly offered his phone number, assuring her that she could reach out whenever someone needed assistance. Over the years, he kept his promise, regularly checking in and making sure she had his updated contact information.

One of the most poignant stories she recounted involved a 12-year-old girl who felt frightened and exhausted during her chemotherapy. Salman made a personal call to inspire the young patient to continue her treatment, providing her strength when it was most needed. Today, that girl, now 27, is healthy and gearing up for her public administration exams. For Venkatesh, this illustrates the profound impact a kind word can have during challenging times.

Venkatesh also discussed Salman’s visits to children in hospitals. On one occasion, he cancelled a film shoot to spend quality time with young cancer patients at KEM Hospital. These visits were not orchestrated for publicity; he visited quietly, engaged with the kids, and aimed to brighten their days.

She shared numerous other instances of his benevolence. Whenever he heard of someone facing cancer, Salman would reach out—be it a friend’s family member or even a neighbor needing support. In an incredibly emotional act, he sent his gold earring to a terminally ill boy in Meerut to offer comfort during his tough times.

In another instance, when he learned about a young girl requiring a bone marrow transplant, Salman eagerly offered to bring his brothers in for testing as potential donors. He also made a young fan from Indore feel special by inviting him home when he couldn't visit the film set, spending over an hour laughing and talking with him.

Venkatesh concluded her heartfelt message by referring to Salman Khan as her “friend in cancer care for many years,” emphasizing that this relationship transcended accolades or box office success. As she wished him well on his milestone birthday, her words expressed deep gratitude for his unparalleled kindness.

Salman celebrated his 60th birthday on December 27 at his farmhouse in Panvel, surrounded by close friends, family, and a select few esteemed guests from the sports and entertainment industry. The event was intimate and cozy, filled with laughter, conversation, and a simple cake-cutting, revealing the personal side of a man frequently seen only through the celebrity lens.

Through these compassionate actions, Salman Khan has shown unwavering support to many during their darkest hours. On this significant birthday, it is his humanity that resonates the most.
