The Screen Actors Guild Awards, rebranded in January 2025, have unveiled their nominations for 2026, showcasing films and television shows poised to make waves at the Academy Awards. Since the winners are chosen by SAG-AFTRA members, these awards are seen as particularly influential ahead of the Oscars.

Topping the nominations for Best Movie Cast are two standout films, vying against the Shakespearean drama Hamnet, the sports-centric Marty Supreme, and the Gothic sci-fi endeavor Frankenstein.

In the acting fields, Leonardo DiCaprio snagged a nomination for his portrayal of Bob in One Battle After Another. Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan received accolades for his dynamic performance as twin siblings Smoke and Stack Moore in Sinners. Jessie Buckley also garnered recognition for her work as Agnes Hathaway in Hamnet, making them some of the top nominees this awards season.

Television contenders include the dark comedy The White Lotus, which is up against The Pitt, a compelling medical drama, and the psychological thriller Severance. Culinary humor shines with The Bear as it competes against Abbott Elementary, Hacks, and The Studio. The critically acclaimed limited series Adolescence also secured multiple nominations, emphasizing its success.

Set for March 1, 2026, the awards ceremony will be streamed live on Netflix, offering audiences globally the chance to witness the winners' announcement firsthand.

Last year’s live nominee announcement was scrapped due to severe wildfires in Los Angeles, leading to an online reveal instead. Sean Astin, SAG-AFTRA's President, took the opportunity during this year’s announcement to honor the wildfires' anniversary and their lasting effects on the community.

The SAG Awards remain a vital indicator for Oscar forecasts, celebrating exceptional talent in film and television.
