Russian drone attacks on Kyiv early today resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left at least 19 others injured, as reported by Ukrainian officials. The assaults commenced just before midnight, leading to extensive damage to residential structures, public utilities, and crucial services in the capital.
Among those killed was a medical emergency worker responding to a suburban apartment that was hit by two drones in quick succession. Several of his colleagues were hurt in the incident. Officials noted that multiple areas of the city were impacted, with two apartment complexes on the east bank of the Dnipro River receiving significant damage. One of these buildings entirely lost an entrance, while a high-rise in the central area suffered severe destruction.
The drone strikes disrupted vital services, particularly affecting the water supply in several neighborhoods. Fires erupted across different city locations; one blaze ignited in a shopping center, while another drone crash was reported near a medical establishment, raising urgent safety concerns. City authorities confirmed that firefighters managed to control the blazes, but the incidents caused additional anxiety for local residents.
Kyiv was under air raid alert for almost five hours as emergency personnel and military units rushed to manage the situation and mitigate further risk. Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to help the injured and tackle the fires ignited by the drone attacks.
In total, at least 19 individuals suffered injuries, with 14 requiring hospital treatment. The health and safety of the community remain a top priority as authorities evaluate the full scope of the destruction.
In another development, a separate Russian attack targeted infrastructure in the Lviv region of western Ukraine, further heightening concerns over ongoing aggression throughout the country.
These latest drone strikes underscore the persistent security threats that Kyiv faces, as the city endures repeated assaults on civilian areas and essential infrastructure. Ukrainian officials continue to stress the need for readiness and vigilance to safeguard the city and its residents from further attacks.
