Fresh Russian attacks in Ukraine have killed two people and left thousands without electricity, officials said on Saturday. The strikes hit different parts of the country, causing damage to homes and important energy systems.
In the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, a morning attack killed a man and a woman. The regional governor, Ivan Fedorov, said six other people were injured, including two children. Emergency teams quickly reached the area to help the victims and take the injured to hospitals.
At the same time, heavy damage was reported in the northern Chernihiv region. Governor Viacheslav Chaus said a drone strike hit an energy facility, cutting off electricity in large parts of the region. Repair teams have started work, but it may take time to fully restore power.
Local officials said the city of Chernihiv was completely without electricity after the attack. The region, which lies close to the borders of Russia and Belarus, has faced repeated strikes since the war began.
Since the start of the war, Russia has carried out many attacks on Ukraine’s energy systems. These strikes often lead to long power cuts, especially during winter, making life difficult for people. Authorities continue to work on restoring services as the situation remains tense across the country.
