Respected veteran actor Rakesh Bedi has addressed rumors concerning a supposed kiss directed at his co-star Sara Arjun during the launch of the Dhurandhar trailer last month. Playing the role of the devious politician Jameel Jamali while Sara portrays his vibrant daughter Yalina Jamali, Rakesh faced backlash after footage appeared to show him kissing Sara's shoulder. However, he firmly described the allegations as “nonsense.”
In a recent interview, Rakesh pointed out the substantial age difference, highlighting their portrayal as a father-daughter duo. “Whenever we interacted at the shoots, she welcomed me with a hug, similar to how a daughter greets her father. Our bond is evident on screen as well,” he explained.
He continued by stating, “The day in question was no exception, yet people fail to acknowledge the warmth involved. An older man's affection towards a young girl can be misinterpreted. If viewers are seeing it otherwise, what can we do?” Rakesh firmly noted, “Why would I display ill intent in such a public setting? Her family was present. People just thrive on creating disturbances out of trivialities on social media.”
Rakesh clarified that he does not feel the need to defend himself, but wishes only to present the facts. He also recounted a touching narrative involving a fan who has a child with special needs, underscoring the admiration and respect he has cultivated throughout his extensive career.
The film Dhurandhar, featuring a talented cast including Ranveer Singh, R Madhavan, and Akshaye Khanna alongside Rakesh and Sara, has garnered significant audience enthusiasm and has performed exceptionally well.
