Rachel Reid Dominates Canadian Bestseller List With 5 Titles

Post by : Samiksha

Canadian author Rachel Reid has taken over the country’s bestseller charts, with five books from her acclaimed Game Changers series landing in this week’s top 10 Canadian fiction titles. Leading the list is Heated Rivalry, the hit 2019 romance novel that inspired the massively popular Crave TV adaptation released in November. The series — directed by Montreal filmmaker Jacob Tierney — has quickly become Crave’s most successful original production and has broadened the books’ already strong readership.

Heated Rivalry follows the intense and secret relationship between rival pro hockey stars, Canadian forward Shane Hollander of the fictional Montreal Voyageurs and Russian winger Ilya Rozanov of the Boston Bears. Their once-casual romance grows deeper, forcing the pair to confront difficult choices between their passion for hockey and their feelings for each other. The book’s renewed popularity also comes as it appears on the Canada Reads 2026 longlist, raising its cultural visibility even further.

Reid’s other charting titles this week include Game Changer, The Long Game, Role Model, and Tough Guy, underscoring the sustained fan enthusiasm for the LGBTQ+ sports-romance series.

In Canadian nonfiction, Margaret Atwood leads the list with Book of Lives, a memoir tracing her childhood in northern Quebec, her early creative influences, and her rise to international literary prominence. Atwood explores the intersections of art, politics, and personal experience, offering readers fresh insight into her work and worldview. Her memoir has sparked significant conversation about the landscapes and moments that shaped one of Canada’s most celebrated authors.

Other nonfiction favourites this week include David Chilton’s The Wealthy Barber, Omar El Akkad’s One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This, and Cory Doctorow’s Enshittification.

In Canadian children’s books, Robert Munsch’s classic The Paper Bag Princess, illustrated by Michael Martchenko, remains the No. 1 pick. Published in 1980 and beloved for over four decades, the story of Princess Elizabeth’s daring rescue mission has become a defining tale of empowerment, humour, and heroism. Its longevity on bestseller lists reflects its enduring appeal to new generations of young readers.

With strong representation across fiction, nonfiction, and children’s literature, this week’s bestseller list highlights both Canada’s established literary icons and the contemporary authors capturing readers’ imaginations today.
