Pumpkin Spice Drinks Return Early to Coffee Shops Across Capital Region

Post by : Meena

For many people, the unofficial start of fall is marked not by the changing leaves or cooler weather, but by the return of pumpkin spice flavors. The most popular of these is the pumpkin spice latte, commonly called the PSL by fans who eagerly await its annual release. This year, coffee lovers in the Capital Region do not have to wait long — pumpkin spice is arriving early at popular coffee chains and local cafés.

Dunkin’ Brings Back Pumpkin Flavors

On Wednesday, Dunkin’ announced the return of its pumpkin-flavored menu items. These include the pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin swirl flavor, and pumpkin doughnuts. Fans of pumpkin spice will be able to enjoy these seasonal treats at Dunkin’ locations across the region.

Starbucks Joins the Fall Celebration

Starbucks also revealed that its pumpkin spice drinks will return next Tuesday, almost a full month before the official start of fall on September 22. The coffee chain, which has numerous locations throughout the Capital Region, said the fall flavor will be available “while supplies last.” In addition to in-store offerings, Starbucks released ready-to-drink pumpkin-flavored beverages earlier in August. These drinks are available in grocery stores, convenience stores, and gas stations, allowing fans to enjoy the taste of fall anywhere.

Local Cafés Launch Seasonal Pumpkin Menus

Many local cafés in the Capital Region are also preparing for the pumpkin spice season. Jacob Alejandro in Troy will launch its fall menu on September 1, offering a variety of pumpkin-themed drinks. Co-owner Jake Griffin-Diaz shared that customers can look forward to beverages such as the pumpkin dolce latte, pumpkin juice cold brew, and pumpkin praline latte. These creative drinks highlight the rich and warm flavors of fall and give coffee lovers multiple options to celebrate the season.

Pumpkin Spice at Other Local Spots

Other popular local cafés have not yet introduced pumpkin spice on their menus. At Uncommon Grounds, pumpkin flavor will return sometime in September or early October. For now, customers can still order cold brews with pumpkin flavoring. Meanwhile, Stacks Espresso Bar plans to release pumpkin spice drinks “when fall comes around,” coinciding with their switch to the full fall seasonal menu.

A Sign of the Season

The early release of pumpkin spice drinks shows just how much people love this seasonal flavor. For many, it is not just a beverage — it is a symbol of autumn, cozy mornings, and the start of fall traditions. From major chains to smaller local cafés, the pumpkin spice season is now officially underway, offering a delicious way for coffee lovers to celebrate the upcoming season.

Why Pumpkin Spice is So Popular

Pumpkin spice is a mixture of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and sometimes ginger, blended with pumpkin flavor. This warm and sweet combination has become synonymous with fall. Coffee shops across the country have capitalized on its popularity, offering lattes, pastries, and other seasonal treats. The excitement around pumpkin spice also encourages people to visit their favorite coffee spots, making it an important part of the autumn experience.

Enjoy Pumpkin Spice Early This Year

Whether you prefer a classic pumpkin spice latte, a cold brew with pumpkin flavor, or a seasonal doughnut, there are plenty of options for fans this year. With early releases at major chains and local cafés alike, there is no need to wait for the official start of fall to enjoy these beloved flavors.
