Pat Cummins Wins POTM In SRH Vs PBKS IPL Match

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the Player of the Match award after helping his team secure an important victory against Punjab Kings in IPL 2026. SRH defeated PBKS by 33 runs in a high-scoring match played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on May 6.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted a massive total of 235/4 in 20 overs. The team received strong performances from Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma. Their aggressive batting placed Punjab Kings under heavy pressure during the chase. 

Pat Cummins played a key role with the ball and in the field. The Australian fast bowler finished with figures of 2 wickets for 34 runs and gave SRH an early breakthrough in the match. He dismissed Priyansh Arya in the opening over with a clever short-ball plan and later helped control Punjab’s scoring rate during the middle overs. Cummins also impressed with his fielding and leadership throughout the game. 

Punjab Kings fought hard during the chase, mainly because of a brilliant innings from Cooper Connolly. The Australian all-rounder scored an unbeaten 107 runs off 59 balls and completed his century in the final over. However, he did not receive enough support from the other batters as Punjab Kings finished on 202/7 in 20 overs.

The victory helped Sunrisers Hyderabad move to the top of the IPL 2026 points table and strengthened their playoff chances. It was also SRH’s third straight win in the tournament, while Punjab Kings suffered their third consecutive defeat.

After the match, cricket fans and experts praised Pat Cummins for his captaincy and calm performance under pressure. His contribution with both tactics and execution proved important in SRH’s successful result against Punjab Kings.
