A significant advancement in Pakistan’s agricultural logistics is underway as AD Ports Group has revealed a long-term collaboration with Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML) and Louis Dreyfus Company Pakistan (LDC). Together, they will construct and manage a state-of-the-art clean bulk handling and storage facility at Karachi Port, designed to strengthen the nation’s food supply chain and enhance maritime efficiency.
In accordance with the agreement, KGTML will allocate resources to create a high-performance, food-grade bulk terminal featuring a unique conveyor and handling system, along with essential infrastructure and utilities. The focus will be on efficient handling and secure storage of dry agricultural commodities, adhering to global standards. LDC, a leading name in global agricultural trade, has pledged to channel substantial inbound cargo volumes through this new terminal as part of its expanded efforts in Pakistan.
This initiative is in addition to the USD 75 million previously promised by AD Ports Group during the initial phase of the KGTML project. It aligns with ADQ’s overarching strategy—AD Ports Group and LDC’s parent company—to bolster essential infrastructures while enhancing regional supply chains.
The agreement was formalized in Abu Dhabi, attended by key representatives from both organizations, highlighting the project's significance for Pakistan’s port ecosystem and the strengthening economic links between the UAE and Pakistan.
Upon becoming operational, this facility is projected to minimize cargo handling duration, heighten storage efficiency, and facilitate reliable agricultural good movements into and out of the country. By integrating advanced systems and adhering to food-grade safety standards, the terminal will contribute to strengthening Pakistan’s resilience against supply disruptions and elevate its agricultural logistics network’s overall performance.
Alongside this endeavor, AD Ports Group is also focused on the development and management of the Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) container terminal, fortifying Pakistan’s role as a crucial maritime gateway to Central Asia and a significant segment of the emerging Middle Corridor trade route connecting China and Europe.
The establishment of the new clean bulk facility is a notable achievement for both nations, boosting trade connectivity and solidifying Pakistan’s position in regional agricultural commerce.
