In a dazzling display of skill, UAE's Omar Abdul Aziz Al Marzooqi triumphed at the CSIO3* Lisbon Grand Prix, which took place at the renowned Sociedade Hípica Portuguesa in Lisbon.

Riding his horse Chacco Bay, Al Marzooqi achieved one of the only two flawless double-clear rounds over the challenging 1.55m course set by course designer Bernardo Costa Cabral. He ultimately claimed victory in the jump-off, sporting an impressive time of 38.43 seconds.

Finishing second was Edouard Chauvet from France on Zia Mia de la Bonn Z, while Portuguese rider Duarte Seabra secured the third spot.

This victory marks the second Grand Prix win for Al Marzooqi and Chacco Bay, reinforcing their reputation as one of the UAE’s key partnerships on the global show jumping stage. Presently, Al Marzooqi holds a spot in the top 10 of the FEI U25 rankings.

The event was part of the recently revitalized CSIO Lisbon, backed by Al Shira’aa Stables, which has significantly contributed to the return of premier international competitions to Portugal.

Expressing his feelings post-victory, Al Marzooqi emphasized the significance of winning at a historic event that has made a comeback after a hiatus, while also extending gratitude to Al Shira’aa for their unwavering support.

Sami Kettle, the Director of Global Operations at Al Shira’aa, commended Al Marzooqi’s exceptional performance and underscored the importance of teamwork and nurturing UAE equestrian talent over time.

Furthermore, this win aligns with Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s broader vision, which is aimed at promoting equestrian sports and the resurgence of historic international competitions.
