A boating incident at Heart Lake Conservation Area has left one man dead after a canoe capsized late शनिवार night, prompting a large-scale emergency response.

According to Peel Regional Police, officers received a call around 9:30 p.m. reporting boaters in distress on the lake. Emergency crews, including the Brampton Fire Department, arrived quickly and launched a search and rescue operation.

Responders were able to locate a woman in the water who had been in the canoe when it overturned. However, the man who was with her was initially missing, leading to an extended overnight search effort.

Authorities, supported by the police marine unit, continued their search into the following day. The man’s body was eventually recovered रविवार afternoon, confirming the fatal outcome of the incident.

Police noted that the conservation area was officially closed at the time, and no one was expected to be on the water. Officials described the situation as unusual, raising questions about how the individuals accessed the lake after hours.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the canoe capsizing. While the case is being fully examined, police have stated that there is no indication of foul play at this time.

The incident has prompted renewed safety reminders from authorities, urging the public to respect closures and follow safety guidelines, especially when engaging in water activities.
