Israel's control of Beaufort Castle intensifies concerns over stability in Lebanon and the prospects
In a significant boost to its tourism sector, Oman has authorized two new usufruct agreements for hospitality initiatives exceeding 12 million Omani riyals. The projects feature a four-star resort in Al Hamra, located in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and a five-star hotel in Mirbat, Dhofar Governorate, with the aim of enhancing the country's tourism framework and promoting economic diversification.
Signed by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, these agreements are part of a long-term initiative to draw private investments and enrich tourism offerings across the Sultanate. Officials anticipate these developments will generate new job opportunities, invigorate local economies, and improve the quality of accommodation for both domestic and international guests.
The investments align with national strategies to expand income sources beyond conventional sectors. With tourism as a crucial element of Oman’s economic evolution, authorities are prioritizing the development of sites that seamlessly blend cultural heritage, natural beauty, and modern luxury.
The prominent project is the four-star resort in Al Hamra, set to be developed by Al Zahra Hospitality Services Company. Spanning a 25,000-square-meter area with an investment of approximately RO 9.87 million, the resort aims to become a holistic tourism destination that combines adventure, relaxation, and eco-friendly practices.
Nestled among Oman’s stunning mountainous regions, this resort is poised to attract travelers interested in outdoor adventures, nature experiences, and cultural immersion. Officials express confidence that this development will highlight Al Hamra’s remarkable tourism offerings, including scenic trails, valleys, and heritage sites.
The other project entails establishing a five-star hotel in Mirbat by Zillal Tourism Company. Situated on a 55,000-square-meter plot with an investment of around RO 3 million, the hotel will feature 121 guest rooms, restaurants, cafés, conference areas, sports facilities, swimming pools, and various leisure amenities aimed at both business visitors and holidaymakers.
Tourism authorities emphasize Mirbat’s burgeoning significance as a desirable destination within the Dhofar Governorate, noted for its coastal charm, historical landmarks, and seasonal tourism. This luxury hotel is expected to augment the region’s hospitality capacity, fostering year-round growth in visitor numbers.
Experts believe these initiatives will play a vital role in advancing Oman’s tourism aspirations, while simultaneously generating opportunities for local enterprises and communities. By merging exceptional lodging with distinct natural and cultural offerings, Oman strives to establish itself as a competitive force in the regional tourism landscape.
