Key cooperation agreements were finalized between Oman and Botswana at Al Baraka Palace in Muscat, marking an important step in their diplomatic relations. This ceremony was witnessed by Haitham bin Tariq and Botswana’s President Duma Gideon Boko during an official visitation.

The agreements target vital sectors such as mineral exploration, petroleum storage infrastructure, and renewable energy, intended to fortify economic cooperation and create fresh investment avenues between the two countries.

A standout feature is the joint venture between OQ and Botswana Oil, which will evaluate fuel supply systems, storage frameworks, and long-term energy security strategies for Botswana.

These companies are set to explore forming a streamlined fuel supply system, merging import logistics, coastal storage facilities, and inland reserves. This innovative approach is anticipated to enhance supply chain efficiency and assure reliable fuel access in the region.

Additionally, a massive solar energy initiative spearheaded by O-Green aims to construct a 500 MW photovoltaic power facility in Maun, Botswana. This endeavor will incorporate cutting-edge battery storage technologies to guarantee a stable energy supply.

Officials emphasized that this renewable energy venture stands as one of the most ambitious in Botswana’s history and is expected to play a vital role in the nation’s aim of achieving 50% electricity from renewable sources by 2030. It’s projected to also double the existing power generation capacity.

Moreover, a collaborative mining agreement was established to boost exploration and development of mineral resources. This partnership will facilitate knowledge exchange, technical cooperation, and joint investments in key minerals, aiding long-term economic advancement.
