Corus, CBC and Bell Team Up to Simulcast 2026 Canadian Screen Awards

Corus Entertainment, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Bell Media have announced a historic collaboration to simultaneously broadcast the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards on May 31, aiming to expand the show’s audience and spotlight achievements in Canadian film, television and digital media. The ceremony — one of Canada’s premier celebrations of homegrown creative talent — will air live across multiple outlets, including Global, STACKTV, CBC, CBC Gem, Crave and CTV at 8 p.m. ET from the CBC Broadcast Centre in Toronto.

The awards, presented annually by the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television, honour artistic and technical excellence in Canadian screen industries, spanning film, television and digital productions. This year’s expanded broadcast partnership marks a significant effort to reach more Canadians across platforms and celebrate local stories at a time when traditional awards shows are adapting to changing viewer habits.

Andrew Phung, eight-time Canadian Screen Award winner and well-known actor and comedian, will host the gala event. The multi-network agreement is designed to allow Canadians from coast to coast to tune in or stream the ceremony regardless of their preferred service or channel.

According to Tammy Frick, CEO of the Academy, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment among broadcasters to uplift Canadian storytelling and talent. She said the unprecedented partnership came together quickly and shows industry enthusiasm for reinforcing Canadian cultural moments on national TV and streaming services.

Sally Catto, General Manager of Entertainment, Factual and Sports, also highlighted how the expanded broadcast will help celebrate and elevate Canadian entertainment “in ways that connect with audiences wherever they are watching.” The simulcast will be part of Canadian Screen Week 2026, a series of events culminating in the awards ceremony.

The nominees for the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards are expected to be announced in March, ahead of the ceremony itself. The awards have traditionally been one of Canada’s most prestigious honours for creators, recognising excellence across categories ranging from dramatic and comedy series to documentary and digital media production.
