NCB Dismantles Myanmar Drug Operation in Manipur, Arrests Two

Post by : Mina Carter

In a notable crackdown on cross-border drug trafficking, authorities in Manipur recovered a significant quantity of heroin near the India–Myanmar border, apprehending two individuals suspected of connections to a global drug syndicate.

This seizure was executed following precise intelligence, leading a collaborative enforcement team to intercept a vehicle in a border region. Upon conducting a search of the car, they discovered 7.31 kilograms of heroin cleverly hidden within 638 plastic soap containers to evade detection.

Officials estimate the value of the confiscated drugs to be around ₹15 crore in the international illicit market. Early investigations suggest the heroin was sourced from the Haichin region of Myanmar and smuggled through dense forest paths in Manipur to avoid capture.

The suspects, hailing from the Churachandpur district, reportedly utilized obscure forest trails and less frequented routes to elude routine security checks. According to officials, increased vigilance along known smuggling corridors has compelled traffickers to resort to more perilous and secluded routes.

Security agencies have amplified their surveillance efforts along border areas, reiterating their resolve to take decisive action against drug networks operating beyond international borders.
