In an electrifying match held at Eden Gardens, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) clinched a stunning last-ball victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), thanks to a phenomenal performance by young wicketkeeper-batter Mukul Choudhary.
Facing a daunting target of 182, LSG encountered significant pressure until Mukul turned the tide. After starting cautiously, the 22-year-old unleashed a powerful onslaught, ending with an impressive 54 not out from just 27 deliveries. His audacious batting sealed the win with the final ball of the contest.
Interestingly, Mukul’s explosive talent had been previously acknowledged by his teammate Arjun Tendulkar, who commended his six-hitting prowess during practice sessions. Arjun remarked that Mukul's unique 360-degree batting capability allows him to find the boundary in every direction.
With 54 runs required in the last few overs, Mukul remained calm under pressure from top bowlers like Cameron Green, Kartik Tyagi, and Vaibhav Arora. Demonstrating extraordinary coolness and power, he sent balls to every corner of the field, shifting the match dynamics in LSG’s favour.
Captain Rishabh Pant praised the young talent's performance, emphasizing the crucial role of trust in fostering talent within the team. He noted that Mukul’s innings symbolized the emergence of something exceptional within the squad.
Head coach Justin Langer also lauded Mukul, likening his agility between the wickets to that of Virat Kohli and his ability to finish games to MS Dhoni. Langer pointed out Mukul’s athletic capabilities, game awareness, and composure as standout attributes.
This outstanding performance not only clinched an important victory for LSG but also marked Mukul Choudhary as a promising talent to keep an eye on in the Indian Premier League.
