Belgian rider Tim Merlier from Soudal Quick-Step triumphed with a sprint finish. Phil Bauhaus of Bahrain Victorious took third place in the 143-kilometre race.

Kicking off in front of the historic Gyula Castle, the event saw 112 participants from 19 teams compete in the first leg of this five-day competition.

UAE Team Emirates-XRG showcased strong talent, led by French cyclist Benoît Cosnefroy and up-and-coming Emirati rider Mohammed Al Mutaiwei. The team also features Vegard Stake Laengen, Rui Oliveira, and Adrià Pericas.

The 2026 Tour de Hongrie spans over 836 kilometres across five exhilarating stages. The route intensifies as the race proceeds eastward through Hungary, showcasing rolling hills and technical finishes ripe for attacks and breakaways.

Stage four, stretching from Mohács to Pécs, is poised to be pivotal for the general classification standings. The concluding stage into Veszprém may also lead to last-minute shifts in the overall standings.
