New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has been named the 2025 NFL Coach of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA) following a remarkable turnaround season with the franchise. In his first full season at the helm, Vrabel guided the Patriots to an impressive 14–3 regular-season record, including a 10-game win streak that helped secure the AFC East title and a high playoff seed.
The award recognises Vrabel’s leadership in transforming a team that had endured back-to-back losing seasons into one of the league’s top performers. Under his guidance, New England posted a +170 point differential, recorded strong offensive numbers — including 490 points scored — and allowed just 18.8 points per game on defence. Key contributors such as quarterback Drake Maye and rookies like running back TreVeyon Henderson also earned individual accolades, with Maye selected to the PFWA’s All-AFC team and Henderson to the All-Rookie team.

This marks Vrabel’s second PFWA Coach of the Year honour, having previously won it in 2021 during his time with the Tennessee Titans. He becomes the eighth coach in Patriots history to receive the award, joining legendary figures such as Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick on the franchise’s list of honourees.
The recognition comes as the Patriots prepare for the AFC Championship Game, further underscoring a dramatic resurgence under Vrabel’s leadership and the team’s return to contention after years of rebuilding.
