Meghan Markle is set to return to the silver screen with a special appearance in the comedy film Close Personal Friends.

The Duchess of Sussex, aged 44, rose to fame for her role as Rachel Zane in the popular series Suits for seven seasons and will portray herself in this movie.

Close Personal Friends boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Lily Collins, Jack Quaid, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, Natasia Demetriou, Patti Harrison, and Dustin Demri-Burn. Currently filming in Los Angeles, Markle was spotted on set in Pasadena, sporting sunglasses and stepping into a Range Rover.

The plot revolves around a couple who befriends a famous duo during their trip to Santa Barbara, leading to crossed personal boundaries and a series of hilariously awkward situations.

Before her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018, Markle had appeared in films such as Get Him to the Greek, Remember Me, and Horrible Bosses. After stepping down from royal responsibilities in 2020, the couple relocated to the U.S. and embarked on various initiatives, including projects with Netflix and their media firm, Archewell Productions.

In August, Prince Harry and Markle renewed their collaboration with Netflix and Archewell Productions through a multiyear, first-look agreement. “My husband and I are motivated by our partners who actively collaborate with us and our Archewell Productions team to produce meaningful content across various genres that resonates on a global scale,” Markle mentioned.

The Archewell Productions team has created documentary content such as Harry & Meghan, Polo, Heart of Invictus, and Live to Lead for Netflix. Upcoming developments include the second season of With Love, Meghan, centered on lifestyle and cooking, as well as a special holiday edition in December.

The company also plans to work on a film adaptation of Carley Fortune’s novel Meet Me at the Lake, which tells a love story unfolding over a decade, sparked by an unexpected encounter and a broken promise. Fortune commended the collaboration, describing it as “a tremendous personal challenge” and “absolutely incredible” to see her story come to life.

With this cameo in Close Personal Friends, Meghan Markle officially steps back into scripted production for the first time since leaving acting, marking a new phase in her creative endeavors alongside Netflix and Archewell Productions.
