West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has called for a Supreme Court inquiry into the fatal plane crash involving Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar in Baramati. Her remarks raise suspicions about the incident, hinting at possible political implications.
At a recent public gathering, Banerjee expressed profound shock over the tragic event. She emphasized that political figures are not safe in today's environment and questioned the circumstances surrounding the accident. She also alluded to recent shifts in political alignment, suggesting Ajit Pawar was poised to realign with his party's original direction.
Banerjee insisted that only the Supreme Court could ensure an impartial investigation, alleging a compromise within central agencies. She extended her condolences to Ajit Pawar's family, his uncle Sharad Pawar, and the people of Maharashtra.
The crash claimed the lives of Ajit Pawar and four others when a chartered aircraft crash-landed at Baramati airport in Pune district. The aviation regulator DGCA confirmed that all five onboard, including crew members, perished in the incident, which was operated by VSR Ventures from Delhi.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge also called for an investigation into the crash, refraining from linking it to political motives. He expressed sorrow over Ajit Pawar's passing and conveyed condolences to his family, supporters, and admirers.
Kharge noted that Ajit Pawar had a rich political legacy in Maharashtra, serving in numerous constitutional capacities and will be remembered for his commitment and leadership.
