In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old Malaysian identified as Mohamad Faiz Umar has been formally charged with the murder of a 21-year-old woman in Singapore's Choa Chu Kang area. The tragedy unfolded earlier this week when the victim, Chua Bee Ting, was found dead in an HDB lift lobby.
Court documents reveal that the alleged murder took place on May 26, between 8:53 p.m. and 9:22 p.m., at Block 248 Choa Chu Kang Avenue 2. According to authorities, police were notified about the incident around 9 p.m. and discovered the lifeless body of the victim on the 12th floor.
Initial investigations suggested that Chua suffered stab wounds, and reports confirm that the accused and the victim were acquainted, but further details about their relationship remain undisclosed.
A nearby resident reported hearing a loud noise prior to the discovery and saw a man lying near a dustbin on the ground floor of the building. Ongoing investigations aim to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Mohamad Faiz Umar was apprehended on suspicion of murder and subsequently underwent medical treatment at the National University Hospital. The court has scheduled a hearing for June 18 as authorities continue their investigations.
