Police in London have arrested ten people in connection with a series of suspected anti-Jewish arson attacks and a possible new plot, as authorities intensify their investigation into rising security threats. The arrests were confirmed by the Metropolitan Police, which said that seven of the suspects were detained within the last 48 hours over an alleged conspiracy to carry out another arson attack.
According to officials, the exact target of the planned attack has not yet been identified, but investigators believe a Jewish site may have been the intended location. The recent arrests took place across multiple areas, including Harpenden, Stevenage, and regions near Birmingham. Some suspects have been released on bail, while others remain in custody as questioning continues.
The latest developments come after a series of arson incidents reported since March, bringing the total number of arrests linked to these cases to 23. One of the most recent attacks occurred near a synagogue in northwest London, where forensic teams were deployed to examine the scene and gather evidence.
In a related case, a 39-year-old man was arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 following the discovery of suspicious jars containing powdered substances in the Kensington Gardens area. Authorities later confirmed that the materials did not pose a risk to the public, but investigations are ongoing to determine their origin and purpose.
Police have also linked some of the incidents to a group identified as Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, which has reportedly claimed responsibility for several attacks in recent weeks. The group allegedly attempted to use drones to drop hazardous materials near the Israeli embassy, though no harm was reported.
Officials say the situation remains under close monitoring, with increased security measures in place across sensitive locations in the city. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have urged the public to remain alert while avoiding speculation as they work to prevent further incidents.
