Lainey Wilson experienced a landmark evening at the 2025 Country Music Association Awards, securing the prestigious Entertainer of the Year accolade. With her vibrant hosting and performance, she seemed to own the stage.

During her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude, saying, “This takes a village. We about to party.” Strong competition didn’t deter her, as she overcame well-known artists like Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, and former champion Morgan Wallen to capture this top honor.

But the excitement didn’t end there. Wilson also clinched Album of the Year for Whirlwind, marking her second victory in this category, and proudly added her fourth Female Vocalist of the Year trophy. In her speech, she lauded the women of country music and sent a clear message to critics: “For the folks sitting at home, in your mama’s basement, eating Cheetos, trying to pit women against each other — y’all need to find something better to do.”

Ella Langley and Riley Green also took home honors, winning Single and Song of the Year for their nostalgic track “You Look Like You Love Me.” Langley dubbed the song “the gift that keeps on giving,” with Green emphasizing its rich storytelling.

Legendary artist Vince Gill was honored with the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, while Brandi Carlile and Patty Loveless serenaded the audience with his classic hit “When I Call Your Name.” George Strait complimented Gill, stating, “He’s just an immense talent. And oh, yeah, he plays with The Eagles.” In a light-hearted moment, Gill joked about his distinctive vocal tone and being the only winner to never have smoked weed.

Brooks & Dunn earned their 16th win as Vocal Duo of the Year, while Cody Johnson was thrilled to receive his first Male Vocalist of the Year award. The show kicked off with an energetic performance from Luke Combs of “Back in the Saddle,” leading into Wilson’s spirited medley, featuring special guests like Little Big Town and Keith Urban.

The evening was brimming with stellar performances from artists such as Moroney, Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini, The Red Clay Strays, Stephen Wilson, Jr., and Kenny Chesney. Old Dominion thrilled the crowd with a medley performed on a small stage amidst the audience, while Wilson showcased her versatility with her upbeat track “Ring Finger.” Emerging talents like Langley, Green, Tucker Wetmore, and rapper BigXThaPlug provided a glimpse into the future, with Combs joining BigXThaPlug for their genre-blending duet “Pray Hard.”

New artist Zach Top, who delivered a heartfelt tribute to six-strings titled “Guitar,” celebrated winning New Artist of the Year, humorously reflecting on the honor.

The CMA Awards, determined by the Country Music Association's members—including artists, songwriters, and industry professionals—represent a heartfelt recognition within the country music community.
