As Children’s Day is celebrated nationwide, Bollywood luminaries are taking a heartfelt trip down memory lane, reminiscing about their carefree childhoods filled with scraped knees, favorite pets, and the small traditions that define them. Actor Kalki Koechlin shared a glimpse into one of her “purest childhood moments” by posting an old photograph that holds special meaning to her.
Kalki fondly recalls her unique childhood companion—a baby squirrel that became a cherished part of her life. Alongside a candid snapshot from those times, she warmly recounts the delightful memories associated with it.
“That was my pet squirrel!” she remembers with a smile. “He would curl up in my hair while I slept at night.” She adds with a chuckle, “As a baby, I would feed him Cerelac using a pipette. I also had a habit of sucking my thumb for a long time! That might explain my big mouth!”
Now, as a mother to her 5-year-old daughter Sappho, Kalki emphasizes the new joy and excitement that motherhood has brought into her life. “She has her own spirit. I allow her to unleash her imagination. Face painting is a joy for her—sometimes she paints her own face, and other times she paints mine,” Kalki shares, a smile lighting up her face.
For Kalki, Children’s Day serves as a beautiful reminder of innocence, the quirky habits we carry, and the unique friendships that remain with us as we grow older.
