Actor Josh Hartnett, 47, was briefly hospitalized after the SUV he was traveling in collided with a Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) patrol vehicle early Thursday, September 25. The incident occurred near the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. local time.

Details of the Collision

The SUV, driven by a 59-year-old man, struck the police vehicle. Both Hartnett and the officer were taken to a nearby hospital. Hartnett was treated and released after medical clearance, while the officer remained hospitalized as a precaution.

Investigation Underway

The RNC confirmed that collision analysts are actively investigating the incident. Authorities are seeking any witnesses or video evidence, including CCTV, dash-camera, or cell phone footage. Residents with information have been asked to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.

Hartnett’s Current Projects

Hartnett is in Canada filming an untitled Netflix series alongside Charlie Heaton and Mackenzie Davis. The series follows a “hard-bitten fisherman” who discovers his hometown is threatened by a mysterious creature.

Earlier this year, Hartnett was seen filming Verity with Anne Hathaway in New York City, scheduled for release on May 15, 2026. He recently shared his experience preparing physically for Fight or Flight, revealing he performed many of his own stunts, saying, “I was bruised from head to toe… it feels good to be able to throw yourself into something physically and have it turn out the way this has.”
