The inaugural “Sustainability Week 2026” has commenced at Dhofar University in Salalah, uniting students and educators from various institutions within the Dhofar Governorate. This year’s theme is “Linking Culture with Innovation: Empowering Youth for Sustainability.”
Spanning two days, this event boasts participation from over 27 schools and colleges, providing a vibrant space for young individuals to delve into sustainable concepts and innovative strategies. The aim is to boost awareness surrounding environmental responsibilities and spark creativity among attendees.
Organizers noted that this event acts as an engaging platform for participants to showcase their projects, share ideas, and partake in substantial discussions regarding sustainability and developmental issues.
Dr. Muawiya Karim Al-Ani, Dean of the College of Commerce and Administrative Sciences, remarked that this initiative marks a crucial advancement in promoting sustainability awareness across educational institutions.
He highlighted that the program convenes academics, students, and industry experts to explore vital areas such as environmental safeguarding, sustainable development, and the educational sector's role in cultivating a brighter future.
The event features a panel discussion titled “Linking Culture with Innovation: Empowering Youth for Sustainability,” in addition to exhibitions, competitions, and initiatives spearheaded by students centered on sustainable practices.
Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, “Sustainability Week” seeks to empower the youth while promoting innovative strategies to tackle pressing environmental and social issues.
