DIEZ and VOLT UAE have declared a collaborative initiative to establish a cutting-edge AI-focused data centre in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). This venture aims to elevate Dubai’s status as a leading hub for digital technology and artificial intelligence.
The announcement took place with senior officials in attendance, including Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Executive Chairman of DIEZ, Han de Groot, CEO of VOLT, Koenraad Crooijmans from VOLT, and Amel Chadli, President of Gulf Cluster at Schneider Electric.
This forthcoming facility will span 60,000 square metres and be executed in two phases. The initial phase will offer 29 MW of operational capacity, with an additional 100 MW planned for the subsequent phase.
Engineered to accommodate advanced AI and high-performance computing, the data centre will possess robust infrastructure, reinforced design, redundancy systems, and top-tier security to ensure constant operations and reliability.
As part of the agreement, DIEZ will supply the land and essential infrastructure for the project, while VOLT UAE will oversee the development, financing, construction, leasing, and operational aspects of the centre.
Schneider Electric, headquartered in Dubai Silicon Oasis, will deliver advanced electrical systems, smart infrastructure, and power distribution solutions, enhancing the data centre’s efficiency, sustainability, and overall functionality.
Officials mentioned that this endeavour aligns with Dubai’s D33 economic agenda and supports the AED 11 billion District IO project, which prioritizes future technologies, innovation, and regional growth in research.
DIEZ emphasized that this partnership showcases the robust confidence of global investors in Dubai’s digital ecosystem and its forward-looking economic model.
VOLT UAE characterized the centre as an “AI factory,” capable of transforming energy into computing power for extensive AI development.
Schneider Electric remarked that this project is poised to establish new international standards for AI-ready data centres through integrated solutions spanning from power systems to cooling and monitoring technologies.
This initiative underscores Dubai’s dedication to cultivating premier digital infrastructure that meets the surging demand for artificial intelligence and advanced computing across the region.
