Abu Dhabi, UAE – In the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the 2nd Annual Nursing Conference was officially opened by His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi on November 12, 2025.
With the theme “The SMART Nurse: Integrating Technology with Clinical Expertise to Shape the Future of Patient Care,” this conference delved into the revolutionary impact of digital tools and artificial intelligence on nursing practices. The aim was to enhance patient care while maintaining the essential human connection in healthcare.
During his address, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan spoke on the conference's goal: empowering nurses and healthcare professionals to merge their skills with compassion. He emphasized the UAE's pivotal role in fostering a healthcare system that harmonizes technological advancements with ethical and humanitarian principles. “Nurses bridge the gap between knowledge and care. They provide comfort, healing, and hope,” he remarked, stressing their substantial influence on the future landscape of healthcare.
The event witnessed over 500 participants from both the UAE and international communities engaging in discussions on AI leadership, clinical simulation training, and practical case studies showcasing how digital innovations can enhance patient outcomes.
The second day included a live demo from Abu Dhabi Academy, presenting an AI-driven solution developed during the Healthcare Innovation Hackathon. This innovation addresses authentic clinical challenges and will undergo a six-month pilot study at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
According to Elizabeth Guffeyro, Chief Nursing Officer at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, striking a balance between technology and empathy is crucial: “While technology presents remarkable opportunities, its true potential is unlocked when nurses guide it with compassion, recognizing the humanity behind each data point.”
This conference further demonstrated Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's commitment to nurturing nursing as both an art and a science, highlighting innovation while upholding human-centered care. Moreover, it positions the UAE as a global leader in healthcare excellence, where technology complements but does not overshadow empathy and professional commitment.
