Indonesia Reduces Haj Fees and Shortens Waiting Period

Post by : Shakul

In a recent announcement, Indonesia has decreased the Haj cost for 2026, bringing down the fee by approximately Rp2 million (around RM465) per pilgrim. This decision is particularly noteworthy given the upward trend in aviation fuel prices and aims to alleviate financial strain on low-income families.

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that this initiative underscores the government’s dedication to aiding its citizens. The revised total cost for the Haj pilgrimage is now set at about Rp87.4 million per person, as agreed upon with the national parliament.

Moreover, significant improvements have been made to reduce the waiting times for Haj applicants. Authorities have confirmed that the previous maximum waiting period of up to 48 years has been slashed to approximately 26 years starting from 2026, with ongoing efforts to further minimize this duration.

Indonesia is also looking into enhancing logistical measures, including the introduction of a dedicated Haj terminal in Saudi Arabia and a collaborative aviation partnership aimed at streamlining flights. Officials advocate that these initiatives will not only lower travel costs but also enhance efficiency and ensure a seamless experience for future pilgrims.
