India has expressed serious concern over the recent murder of a Hindu individual in Bangladesh, describing the ongoing attacks on minority groups as highly troubling. The government in New Delhi highlighted that the spike in violence indicates alarming issues regarding law enforcement and order that must be addressed.
The Ministry of External Affairs has been actively watching the situation in Bangladesh, emphasizing that the recent assaults on Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists are being taken very seriously. They condemned the killings, demanding that all perpetrators be identified and faced legal action.
Officials pointed out that numerous violent events directed at minority communities have taken place recently, including murders and arson. India asserted that these incidents cannot be underestimated as mere political turmoil or isolated instances.
The latest incident occurred in Rajbari district, approximately 145 kilometers from Dhaka. The deceased, identified as Amrit Mondal, was reportedly killed by local residents who accused him of extortion. Police reported that Mondal and his associates were confronted over alleged attempts to extort money, resulting in his severe injuries from which he later succumbed in the hospital.
One arrest has been made concerning this case, while others are still at large. Investigators found weapons at the scene and confirmed that Mondal had multiple prior criminal charges. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination as inquiries proceed.
This event followed another violent attack in Mymensingh, where a young Hindu worker named Dipu Das was brutally killed amid blasphemy claims. According to law enforcement, he was assaulted by a mob, hanged from a tree, and subsequently burned, bringing traffic chaos to a nearby highway.
Widespread outrage ensued as videos of the assault circulated on social media. The Bangladeshi interim government condemned these violent acts and distanced itself from mob justice, promising stringent legal consequences for all parties involved in both tragedies.
India hopes that Bangladesh will take necessary measures to protect its minority communities and pursue justice through established legal procedures.
