The well-being and impending fate of Hong Kong media mogul Jimmy Lai were under the spotlight on Monday as the city’s High Court conducted its final mitigation hearing in his national security trial. Jimmy Lai, aged 78, is the founder of the now-defunct pro-democracy outlet Apple Daily and a vocal critic of China’s ruling regime.
