A heartbreaking incident unfolded in eastern Kazakhstan where an Indian medical student lost her life and two peers were injured during an excursion, as reported by the Indian Embassy on Tuesday.
The tragic accident involved a group of 11 students from Semey Medical University returning from a trip when their vehicle was involved in the mishap. The incident transpired near Ust-Kamenagorsk, situated close to the Altai mountain range.
The deceased has been named Mili Mohan, 25 years old, while the injured students, Ashika Sheejamini Santhosh and Jaseena B, are currently in stable condition. They are receiving treatment at City Hospital No. 1 in Ust-Kamenagorsk, as confirmed by embassy officials.
The Indian Embassy issued a heartfelt statement via social media expressing profound sorrow over the tragedy and extended their condolences to the family of the deceased. They confirmed ongoing communication with both the university and medical authorities as well as the families involved.
Family members of the injured students have arrived in Kazakhstan, receiving support on-site. Officials are collaborating closely with local authorities to provide necessary medical assistance and logistical support.
Efforts are underway to expedite the repatriation of the deceased student's remains back to India. The Embassy reiterated its commitment to assist the families during this challenging time.
