Actor and director Farhan Akhtar has candidly revealed the challenges surrounding the long-delayed production of his film Jee Le Zaraa, which he announced back in 2021 featuring stars Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Priyanka Chopra. What began as an eagerly awaited film turned into a troubling period for him due to continuous delays caused by scheduling issues among the cast.
Following the release of Toofan in 2021, Farhan made a deliberate decision to prioritize directing Jee Le Zaraa by stepping away from acting roles. He declined multiple offers, convinced that the film would begin shooting shortly. He noted that the commitment of directing was demanding, and he frequently informed people of his unavailability as he focused on this project. However, as time went on and delays persisted, he found himself in a state of limbo.
This prolonged postponement significantly affected him emotionally. Farhan confessed that he felt as though time was slipping away, feeling he had squandered nearly two and a half years awaiting the start of the movie. The gap since his last directorial effort, Don 2 in 2011, only added to his anxiety. He expressed concern about others questioning his directorial skills. Engaging in discussions with a therapist aided him in addressing the pressure, but detaching from the film proved challenging given his deep investment.
The initial announcement of the cast sparked massive enthusiasm, highlighted by the unique collaboration of three leading women in a road-trip drama focused on themes of friendship and empowerment. Yet, aligning the three actresses' schedules has been a considerable obstacle. Although Farhan had already done location scouting and music production, the project faced repeated delays due to the unavailability of overlapping shooting schedules.
Recently, Farhan hinted that the original cast might not remain intact. While he refrained from discussing specific casting updates at this time, he affirmed that the project will indeed move forward, with most of the preparatory work completed and a new plan in place.
While anticipating the restart of Jee Le Zaraa, Farhan is currently starring in 120 Bahadur, a historical war drama where he plays Major Shaitan Singh. The film narrates the 1962 Battle of Rezang La, showcasing the valor of 120 Indian soldiers against a larger enemy force. Additionally, he is gearing up for Don 3, set to begin in 2026, featuring Ranveer Singh, with the leading lady yet to be determined.
