Fujairah: This Saturday marks the commencement of Round 3 in the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship (No-Gi) in Fujairah. This stage is pivotal for top clubs and athletes as they vie for outstanding standings in the current season.
The championship plays a vital role in promoting jiu-jitsu across the UAE, with regular events fostering participation and upgrading the sport's standards.
Athletes now have a prime opportunity to gauge their physical strength and technical prowess. The No-Gi format is recognized for its high-octane nature, necessitating swift reactions, quick thinking, and acute concentration. These dynamics compel competitors to sharpen their techniques while adapting to diverse playing styles.
According to Abdullah Salem Al Zaabi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the growth in participation is evident. He emphasized that the influx of participants signifies the sports community's success in fostering growth and offers increased opportunities for athletes.
"The surge in participation across championship rounds clearly illustrates the sport's evolution. It elevates competition levels and provides a professional setting for athletes to refine their abilities," Al Zaabi remarked.
Theyab Alnuaimi from Al Ain Club, competing in the adults 62kg brown belt category, spoke of the distinctive trials associated with the No-Gi matches. He pointed out that the rapid pace and pressure necessitate unwavering concentration, as errors can drastically influence results.
"This format compels us to remain vigilant consistently. It also presents unique opportunities to challenge ourselves against various opponents, allowing significant personal growth and experience," he said.
Continuing to cement its role as a major event on the UAE’s jiu-jitsu calendar, the championship serves as a competitive launchpad for athletes, nurturing talent to represent UAE on both regional and global stages.
