Wadi Al Qarha Nature Reserve Established in Sharjah with Strict Guidelines

In a significant move for environmental protection, Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Ruler of Sharjah, has officially established the Wadi Al Qarha Nature Reserve. This initiative aims to conserve the area’s rich wildlife and natural beauty.

As per the new decree, the boundaries of the reserve will be determined using an officially sanctioned map. A stringent set of regulations is instituted to prevent activities that may harm the delicate ecosystem.

The law imposes a clear ban on activities such as hunting, killing, or injuring wildlife, except where permitted by environmental guidelines. The introduction of non-native animal species into the reserve is also strictly forbidden.

Damage to natural habitats, geological features, or the breeding grounds of flora and fauna will not be tolerated. Any form of pollution—be it air, water, or soil—is also explicitly prohibited. Furthermore, military exercises like shooting drills are not allowed.

Activities that could harm wildlife, such as tree cutting, soil degradation, and certain recreational or sporting events, are banned. Any construction, road building, or use of vehicles in this area requires special permission from relevant authorities.

The decree emphasizes that no actions should disrupt the ecological balance of the reserve. Adjacent areas are also under protection, and any work that could impact the environment there will need official clearance.

This move aligns with Federal Law No. 24 of 1999, aimed at safeguarding all species, including those that breed or take refuge within the reserve.

Local authorities will oversee the reserve's management, collaborating with municipal bodies and Sharjah Police to ensure compliance and address any rule violations.

Violators will face legal consequences and be liable for any environmental damage incurred.

This initiative underscores Sharjah's commitment to protecting its natural landscapes and promoting biodiversity for future generations.
