Supplier in Matthew Perry's Fatal Overdose Receives 2-Year Prison Sentence

In a significant legal conclusion, Erik Fleming, implicated in the ketamine supply that led to Matthew Perry's overdose death, has been sentenced to two years in prison.

After pleading guilty in August 2024 to charges of conspiring to distribute ketamine, Fleming received his sentence on Wednesday. Prosecutors revealed that he provided ketamine vials to Kenneth Iwamasa, Perry's personal assistant, who administered the lethal dose.

Judge Sherilyn Garnett mandated that Fleming undergo three years of supervised probation upon the completion of his prison term, as stated by the Justice Department.

Medical examiners determined that Perry lost his life in October 2023 due to ketamine's acute effects, which exacerbated other factors, causing him to drown in his hot tub at the age of 54.

Best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic TV series Friends, Perry had openly discussed his battles with substance addiction over the years.

Ketamine is primarily used as a short-acting anesthetic and prescribed for conditions like depression and anxiety but is often abused recreationally due to its hallucinogenic properties.

With this sentencing, Fleming has become the fourth individual charged in relation to the investigation surrounding Perry's untimely death.
