As 2025 comes to a close, Emirates SkyCargo is set to embark on an ambitious journey for the upcoming year. The cargo division of the world's largest international airline has made substantial investments in aircraft, routes, and advanced technology aimed at enhancing efficiency for the future.
This past year saw Emirates SkyCargo enhance its core operations significantly. The introduction of new aircraft, a broader range of freighter services, and smarter technology has transformed logistics, emphasizing speed and reliability throughout its extensive global network.
A notable highlight has been the growth of its fleet. In 2025, Emirates SkyCargo welcomed new Boeing 777 freighters, retiring older models and ensuring a modern, efficient fleet. Currently, it operates 11 Boeing 777Fs alongside five leased Boeing 747 freighters, with plans to convert passenger aircraft into dedicated freighters, expanding its freight capacity to at least 21 aircraft by next year.
Network expansion has also accelerated. In 2025, Emirates SkyCargo introduced eight new freighter destinations—including Copenhagen and Mumbai—while increasing service frequencies on key routes like Guangzhou and Shanghai. By the end of the year, its freighter services linked 42 destinations across six continents.
Strategic partnerships are enhancing reach beyond primary hubs. New interline agreements with airlines in Africa and Southeast Asia have opened access to secondary markets, strengthening global connectivity through existing alliances with major carriers.
Operational enhancements extended beyond air services. Emirates SkyCargo upgraded its ground fleet with eco-friendly Euro 6 trucks and is preparing to integrate hydrogen-powered vehicles into operations by early 2026. The exploration of innovative delivery methods, including vertical take-off and landing aircraft for last-mile delivery, is also underway.
Digital advancements kept pace as well. By the end of 2025, nearly 80% of shipments were completed through digital channels, significantly streamlining processes and efficiency. The airline rolled out instant digital payment systems to replace traditional methods, enhancing cargo transaction efficiency.
On the product front, Emirates SkyCargo expertly managed a diverse range of shipments, including live animals and high-value automotive prototypes. The introduction of Emirates Courier Express has taken cross-border delivery to new heights, ensuring swift expansion into fresh markets with consistently prompt delivery times.
Growth in specialized sectors has been notable, with aerospace and engineering shipments surging, perishable goods increasing, and healthcare logistics expanded to meet rising demand in pharmaceuticals. Enhanced cargo solutions have emerged alongside growing electronics manufacturing in Asia, supported by combined air and sea-air services.
With capacity set to increase, new freighter destinations planned, and digital platforms evolving, Emirates SkyCargo enters 2026 on a strong note. The focus for the upcoming year will be on scaling established gains, meeting surging global trade demands, and innovating air cargo logistics to elevate efficiency and reach.
