Kundasang Experiences Light 3.4-Magnitude Earthquake

In the early hours of Tuesday, a slight earthquake registering 3.4 on the Richter scale rattled Kundasang in Sabah, causing mild tremors across the region. As reported by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the quake struck at approximately 3:02am.

The epicenter was identified about 8 kilometers northwest of Ranau, situated at a depth of around 10 kilometers. Officials noted that while the tremors were light, residents in adjacent areas were able to feel them.

So far, local authorities have reported no incidents of damage or injuries. Monitoring teams have been deployed to assess the situation in Kundasang and Ranau, confirming that conditions remain stable.

Rantey Fred from the local fire and rescue department stated that they have not received any emergency calls following the quake. Nevertheless, officials remain vigilant as a safety precaution.
