A Dubai drone incident created panic in the city after loud explosions were heard and smoke was seen rising above buildings in central Dubai.
According to reports, several people heard a strong blast early Friday morning. Some residents also said their buildings shook because of the explosion.
Officials later confirmed that the Dubai drone incident happened after a drone was intercepted by authorities.
Smoke Seen Near Burj Khalifa
A video shared on social media showed smoke rising above buildings in downtown Dubai. The famous Burj Khalifa could also be seen in the background.
No Injuries Reported
Authorities confirmed that debris from the intercepted drone hit the outside wall of a building in central Dubai.
The incident was described as minor, and officials confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Area Closed by Police
After the Dubai drone incident, police quickly reached the location and closed the surrounding area.
Reports say the building damaged in the incident is located in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). Officials are now checking the damage.
Another Drone Incident a Day Earlier
This was not the first Dubai drone incident this week. On Thursday, authorities also reported a small drone incident in the Al Bada'a area.
Witnesses said they saw small clouds of smoke rising in the neighborhood, but no one was injured.
Tensions in the Region
The Gulf region has seen increasing attacks since the Middle East conflict started on February 28. Reports say around 24 people have died in incidents across the region, including US service members and civilians.
