In a remarkable milestone, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has welcomed 24.2 million passengers during the third quarter of 2025, representing a 1.9% year-over-year increase. This growth propels total passenger numbers for the first nine months to 70.1 million, marking a 2.1% rise compared to the same timeframe last year. Additionally, the airport's rolling 12-month traffic reached 93.8 million by September.
Aircraft operations have shown significant activity, with DXB recording 115,000 flights in the third quarter, totaling 336,000 flights across all categories in the first nine months—an increase of 2.7% from the previous year. The average number of passengers per flight was 213, indicating efficient operational performance.
Upgrading Passenger Amenities
To cater to the increasing demand, Dubai Airports is enhancing its terminals with new facilities, including:
CB Central (Terminal 3): Featuring Dubai’s finest brands and experiences.
CB East: A hub for family-friendly dining and entertainment.
CB West: A combination of premium shopping and casual dining.
CD Central (Concourse D, Terminal 1): Offering panoramic views of the airfield and seamless access to shopping.
The airport is also focused on preparing Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) to serve as the primary gateway in the early 2030s, designed as a cutting-edge global aviation center.
Key Markets and Travel Trends
India remained the largest source of passengers at DXB with 8.8 million travelers, followed by Saudi Arabia (5.5 million), the UK (4.6 million), Pakistan (3.2 million), and the US (2.4 million). Among global city destinations, London topped the list with 2.8 million passengers, with Riyadh (2.3 million) and Mumbai (1.8 million) following close behind.
Leisure travelers were drawn to destinations such as Malaysia (687,000), Vietnam (493,000), and the Czech Republic (341,000), emphasizing DXB’s prominence as a tourism gateway.
High Operational Standards
DXB continued to excel in service quality, achieving:
63.8 million bags processed in nine months, up 6.2%.
90% of bags delivered to passengers within 45 minutes.
99.9% accuracy in mishandled baggage management.
99.6% of departing passengers cleared passport control in under 10 minutes.
Over 99.7% of travelers underwent security screening in under 5 minutes.
