Gold and European defense stocks surge as fears of geopolitical tensions rise from Trump’s Greenland
On Sunday evening, unusual drone activity was reported by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC), notably in Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts. Officials confirmed that these drones briefly entered Indian airspace from Pakistan before retreating.
In Rajouri’s Nowshera sector, troops responded promptly after observing a drone hovering over Gania-Kalsian village around 6:35 pm. They utilized medium and light machine guns to deter the intrusion. Soon after, another drone equipped with flashing lights was spotted over Khabbar village in Teryath, moving from Dharmsal in Kalakote towards Bharakh, leading to intensified surveillance efforts in the area.
In Samba, a drone was noted above Chak Babral village in the Ramgarh sector for several minutes at 7:15 pm, while in Poonch, another drone flew from Tain towards Topa in the Mankote sector around 6:25 pm. Security forces initiated immediate ground search operations to identify and neutralize any potential risks.
This alert follows the recent recovery of an arms consignment, allegedly dropped by a drone of Pakistani origin, discovered by security personnel in Paloora village near the IB in Samba last Friday night. The items found included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition, and a grenade. Officials of the area emphasized that these encounters highlight ongoing attempts at cross-border infiltration through drone technology.
Authorities are urging local residents near border regions to stay vigilant and report any suspicious aerial sightings. Troops maintain a heightened state of alert throughout all forward sectors, closely monitoring drone movements and conducting counter-surveillance operations to avert any potential security breaches.
