On Sunday, Andhra Pradesh was rocked by two heartbreaking road accidents that resulted in six fatalities and left sixteen individuals injured. Both incidents occurred on busy highways, involving several vehicles such as a Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV), a private bus, and trucks, leading to immediate responses from local emergency services.

**Srikakulam Incident: Four Pilgrims Killed in MUV Collision**

The first tragic event unfolded early Sunday in Srikakulam district, near Yetturallapadu village in Kotabommali mandal, on the national highway. A Multi-Utility Vehicle (MUV) transporting pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh collided with a parked truck. The group had been travelling to the renowned Srisailam temple after visiting Puri in Odisha.

Initial investigations reveal that the driver of the MUV may have fallen asleep, causing the vehicle to collide with the truck. The impact resulted in the instant deaths of four devotees, identified as Santoshi Bai (62), Vijay Singh Tomar (65), Singh Pawar (60), and Kusal Singh (62).

The crash also injured sixteen other passengers in the MUV. Emergency services and highway patrol quickly arrived at the scene, providing medical assistance, after which the injured were transported to Narsannapet government hospital for treatment. Ongoing investigations by local authorities aim to establish the specifics surrounding the incident.

**Nandyal Incident: Bus Hits Two Trucks, Leading to Two Deaths**

On the same day, another tragic accident took place in Nandyal district near Perayapalem village in Allagadda mandal. A private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Puducherry collided with two trucks. The bus first struck one truck and was then hit from behind by another.

The severity of the crash resulted in the immediate deaths of two passengers who were seated at the rear of the bus. Ten additional passengers incurred injuries, among which four are reported to be in critical condition. Emergency responders were swift to the scene to help and control the situation.

Local police have opened an inquiry into the factors contributing to the collision, examining driver accounts, vehicle conditions, and road safety regulations.

**Increasing Safety Concerns and Investigations**

These incidents have sparked serious discussions regarding road safety and driver vigilance on Andhra Pradesh highways. Fatigue and potential human error appear to be major concerns, notably in the Srikakulam MUV case. Officials are advocating for drivers to implement necessary safety measures, including regular rest breaks, during lengthy journeys.

The Andhra Pradesh police, assisted by highway patrols, are conducting comprehensive investigations for both accidents to pinpoint the timeline of events and ensure accountability. Rescuers and medical personnel continue to care for those injured, while local officials extend support to victims’ families.
